Balenciaga

The first Balenciaga store was opened in 1917 in San Sebastian by Cristóbal Balenciaga, a self-taught designer known for never sketching a single garment with pen and paper. The first success was the "square coat", with sleeves cut in one piece with a yoke, and its design with black lace over light pink fabric. Many of his designs were radical in their time, with its straight lines, before they filtered into mainstream popularity and many still remain the it styles of today.
